Project goal:

The activities carried out by SBSM under the present consultant assignment were quite diverse and complex, including trainings and mentoring for different groups of trainees:

• kindergarten methodologists and Community Center coordinators (1350)
• raion-level lead mentors (100)
• preschool education inspectors (50)
• LPA representatives, preschool institution managers (170)
• academic staff from pedagogic colleges and universities (80)

as well as expert assistance to 100 raion-level mentors in delivering one-day on-the job training in own raions for clusters of 10-15 methodologists and one day of shadow mentoring.

The consultant’s objectives in carrying out these activities were to develop specific skills in these five distinct target groups of trainees, all of the activities being aimed at promoting the new pedagogical paradigm based on the concept of child-centeredness and preschool-school continuity, and to provoke visible changes in professional practices of kindergarten methodologists supervising and counseling teachers in their institutions, academic staff of pre-service institutions training pre-school teachers, raion-level preschool inspectors of Raion Education Directorates who will assess the implementation of new documents in the kindergartens, and representatives of local public administrations (LPAs) providing support to preschool education sector and preschool institution managers to create new ECD community programs in order to increase the access of children to quality education.
