Project objective: revision of the ECD curriculum, development of mentoring by-laws, and strengthening the  capacity of ECD professionals to use appropriately the School Readiness Tool (SRT) in monitoring children’s progress and supporting their transition to school

Project outputs:          

Output 1: Revised ECD curriculum

  • Reviewed current ECD curriculum for its adequacy to the child-centered approach and correlation with the two sets of newer standards (ELDS and ECD Teacher Standards)
  • Information on ECD curriculum development regionally and internationally shared with the workgroup of developers
  • Draft ECD curriculum and Guide developed
  • Round table discussions of the draft curriculum with relevant stakeholders (before and after pilot-testing)
  • Documents pilot-tested in 20 kindergartens

Output 2: By-laws on mentoring developed

  • Reviewed existing regulatory documents from the point of view of institutionalizing mentoring
  • Cross-sectorial perspective adopted through respective representatives in the work group
  • Draft By-laws produced through a participatory process ensured through round tables and consultations

Output 3: Strengthened capacity of ECD professionals to use appropriately the School Readiness Tool (SRT) in monitoring children’s progress and supporting their transition to school

  • 40 inspectors/raion level methodologists/ ECD specialists administering correctly the application of the SRT
  • Local mentors (300) trained on the application of SRT and on ways to guide practitioners
  • Additional component
  • 150 methodologists better supporting teachers to translate ELDS into practice
