Quality child-centered practices supporting child readiness for school

Project objective: developing and piloting a tool for monitoring the child’s readiness for school.

Project results:

  • The draft instrument for monitoring and evaluating children’s school readiness in accordance with the Child Learning and Development Standards from 0 to 7 years old (ELDS) developed
  • Consultations on the tool with an international expert in early childhood education, invited by UNICEF to help finalize the document
  • Workshop for 20 data collection operators and observers at the piloting stage, trained on the use of the tool and evaluation procedures
  • Data on the use of the instrument collected: observations in 15 kindergartens (5 kindergartens on each of the 3 geographical areas – North, Center, South), focus-groups in each institution, interviews with the directors and methodists of the kindergartens
  • An analytical report with recommendations and comments for the tool improve elaborated.
